Rickie
Rickie came to us with her litter of 2 week old kittens about 4 weeks ago from. Rickie was a beautiful Maine coon baby girl about 1 year old as you can see. Rickie had been living outside even during her pregnancy, she was a very sweet and wonderful little girl about 8lbs when she came to us. She took very good care of her 5 babies but she didn't have that much milk so they needed to be supplement fed. About 1 week ago she started to vomit up everthing she ate, she couldn't hold anything down. She was taken to the vet received a full blood work up, fluids and recieved an X-ray- which nothing was abnormal on the X-ray. The results came back the next day and everything was fine- she did have a high white blood cell count, and she was barely 5lbs, She left us on June 11, 2009. She held on as long as she could of her kittens, luckily her kittens ahd long been weaned. The vet believes this was an underlying issue that was sped up by the fact she had a litter of kittens, it put a lot of stress on her body. Her kittens are all doing great and are happy and healthy. I got very attached to Rickie in the few weeks she waqs here, she was beauitul not just because of her breed and coloring but because she had a great, sweet and gentle personality. She purred non stop and even purred and she was went into kitty heaven. She was loved very mucn and I still think about her every day, I miss her so much and wish there someway to have mase her better. She is up in Kitty Heaven playing wtih Toby, Rusty and all of the other rescued kitties that have passed away. Watch over us and keep your babies safe! Love you Rickie, Jamie

Rusty
Rusty entered heaven today. January 28, 2009Rusty entered heaven today. January 28, 2009 Rusty was a 3 year old FELV postive kitty. He was in our care for 9 months. Before that he was living outside fighting for his life. Rusty was our very 1st postive kitty cat. Rusty was a fighter. He came to us with 4 other cats- each of them not postive. They were all sick with colds, Rusty never caught their colds. He was in rough shape when we first rescued him- scars and dirty fur. He became very healthy and outgoing after a few weeks of good eating! After 6 months in our care he devloped a lump on his back leg, we were prepared for the worst. He went through $500 dollars worth of surger and it turns out the lump was just a fiber depoist! We would of love to see him live in a home of his own, instead of living in a bedroom- but he was very much loved here and a part of our family. The past week Rusty really went down hill. He stopped eating and became listless and lost weight. We tried to do everything we could to save him, but in the end he was just suffering every day. I love Rusty so much it was a very hard decision to make, but I didn't want to see him suffer anymore. He is now in heaven watching over us and playing with Knee High (one of his rescued buddies that also passed away). We will love him and miss him very much, especially Topaz who now doesn't have a room mate. We also want to say a big THANK YOU to Cherry Hill Dog and Cat Hospital (in Elkton) for their compassion and kindness in this tough situation. They have helped us out a lot (also performed Rusty's lump removal surgery) through out this last couple months. They have alwasy been so kind and very good to us. We love you forever and always Rusty!

Schooch
Schooch came to us with her 2 siblings about 3 weeks ago. They were living under bushes in an apartmen complex at the U of D. A nice family contacted us to come and rescue the kittens. There were no signs of mom or other siblings. These poor babies were not even 4 weeks old at the time. Schooch was a speical needs kitten. Schooch had no use of her back legs. She "scooted" to get around- thats how she got around. We were very surprised she was still alive and living outside. She was seen by a vet and the vet said she might walk again with some physical thearpy which we did. It was possible she could walk again. We had been doing the PT but saw no real signs of improvement. In the 2 weeks we had her Scooch did really well- she was very actiive, ate well and pooped well! She could not use a litter box (not even a cardboad box) so she was being trained on doggy wee-wee pads which she did well with. She needed butt baths 2x a day to keep the urine and feces from buring her skin. She loved butt baths!! One day she just didn't seem herself, she wasn't to active and didn't eat as much. The next day she sadly passed away. She was 5.5 weeks old on 09/11/2008. It was very hard for us but Schooch wouldn't of had to good of a life. She charmed our hearts when we first met her. She was very sweet and loving. She will be missed greatly.

Minnie
We rescued Minnies mom (Mia) on June 29th, on May 1st Mia gave birth to 4 beauitful healthy kittens. Mia is a polydacytal and Minnie and her brother Mickey both had 6 toes as well. Minnie was the runt of the litter about half her siblings size. From day 1 we could tell there wasn't something totally right.. Minnies bottom seemed to always be dirty. We at first though maybe Mom was cleaning her bottom- so up until she was 6 weeks old we cleaned her bottom for her. She used the litter box like a pro but her bottom seemed to still be dirty. She also stopped growing at about 5 weeks old- she was so small and didn't even weigh 1lb at 8 weeks old, though she kept eating like a big she just never gained any weight. She was taken to the vet., and thought to maybe have a liver problem. She sadly passed away at 9 weeks old in her sleep. We aren't totally sure what she had wrong but she lived a very happy 9 weeks in a home with love and didn't have to die outside. She will be missed.

Stars
Stars came to us a few days after July 4th with her sister Stripes at 5 weeks old. Stars & Stripes both fell ill about 2 weeks after they came into our care. We took Stars to the vet when she decided to stop eating on her own- she was give sub Q fluids and sent home (she had no fever). The vet said that she didn't have any serious illness, that it was just "Weak Kitten Syndrome" The next day Stars passed away. Stripes was perfectly fine and was her normal self again- she went to a wonderful family with her best friend about 2 week ago. Stars was such a sweet little girl, she was def. the runt of the litter and just couldn't battle what was making her ill. She will be missed.
