R.I.P- Tracie November 22, 2011
R I P- TRACIE NOVEMBER 22, 2011
**A Huge thank YOU to the doctors and staff at Cherry Hill Dog and Cat Hospital. Also a huge thank you to Dr. Diroff and staff at the VSCDE for taking such good care of my babies and their kindess and compassion.*
Tracie was one our first rescues back on October 21, 2006. She came to us with 4 other cats and 1 dog. I kept King (RIP 04-10-2010),and Macie the 3 black cats due to no adoptions for them and due to our bond.
King passed away back in April of 2010. He became very ill and with in a week passed on, we do not know what exactly was wrong but strongly believe he had cancer.
Macie and Tracie have had on-going serious medical issues for the last 1.5 years. At least once a month we were at the vets office with one or the other. Back in September of this year we sought out a specialist at the Vet Specialty Center in Newark. Tracie had some work- up done and was put on some medications which seem to be helping.
However all of a sudden 1 week before Thanksgiving she became very lethargic and not eating so well. Wednesday before Thanksgiving we took her back to the VSCDE and had some blood work up. The blood work came back the next day and her liver values were sky high. We then proceeded to do an ultra sound on Friday to get some more information. The results of her liver came back abnormal as well. She was put on a bunch of medications. However, she would not eat at all and wasn't doing well at all. I tried to keep her going with syringe feeding every few hours, sub q fluids and continued with the meds.
However we did not want her to suffer. We made the very tough heart wrenching decision to have her put to sleep. Which we did on November 22, 2011. We did have necropsy done and some biopsy’s to see what was going on.
Well, the results came back and she had liver cancer which was not treatable. The type of cancer she had was very fast and aggressive.
These cats are my whole life. I would do anything for them. This destroys me. I have a whole in my heart and just wish that Tracie and King could have lived a full 15+ years with me. I love them so much and wish they could still be here. These 3 black cats are the reason why I started rescuing cats. They came from living a life of hell and were so sick and malnourished yet had the most wonderful and sweet personalities. They were so grateful to be saved. There are no other cats in the world like them.
The last black cat Macie has issues of her own and we have been at the vets at least once a week for the last 2 months with her. We can't figure out what exactly is going on with her... But she seems to be ok right now...
RIP King 04-10-10 and Tracie 11-22-11

Twizzler & 5 Kittens, Reeses and 5 Kittens
JUNE 2011
Reeses & 5 Kittens Twizzler & 5 Kittens
We rescued 2 Sister Mom cats (Twizzler & Reeses) and they each had a litter of 5 kittens. We took them in back in April. Both girls were a little emaciated but eating like pigs and were excellent Mommies to their babies. On Memorial Day we found Twizzler lying on the floor unable to move her back legs. Needless to say she was rushed to our vet. They did some bloodwork on her and examined her, she did also have a fever. We were able to bring her home and she was put on some meds. She was eating very well and we hoped she would get better in a day or two. She did not really improve over the next few days (she still couldn't move her back legs or hardly walk) and spiked fevers. She was brought back into our vet Thursday June 2nd where this time radiographs were taken of her belly. Well, it wasn't good news she had fluid in her stomach and we decided to let her go. Her sister Reeses had been doing ok until Saturday the 4th where we had to take her in again radiographs were done and it was the same thing Twizzler had, she was let go as well. We had high hopes for the kittens. They had seem to be growing well and were eating well. However over the next few weeks they slowly each started to fail (become thin, very bad stool, not eating and not acting like kittens). We consulted with the vets many times and we had to make the very tough, heart breaking choice to have them let go and go see their Mommie's in heaven. This has deveasted us. The doctors believe the cats may have FIP, tests are being done to see if this was the cause or not.
KING THE BEST CAT EVER
RIP KING 04.10.2010
King sadly passed away over the weekend. He had to be euthanized Saturday evening seeing as he could NOT what so ever.
Most of you may of heard of Four Paws and Tail Rescue and may know/ have seen King at our adoption events at Concord Pet or just around the store shopping for things. King was the founders cat, he followed her where ever she went and was not a "cat" but a human in a cats body. King loved everything and everyone. King's loss is very surprising and upsetting, with in a week he went from being very tired and sleepy to not being able to breath despite every effort Jamie made to save him, he was just to sick. The vets are unsure what caused King's illness, he could of had heart disease or cancer or maybe both.
Needless to say King's illness has had quite the financial impact. We have spent over $1,000 on King and as you read above Macie his sister fell seriously ill as well and the vet bills were very high as well. It is kitten season and we have a dozen cats and kittens to care for.
Donations are greatly appreciated. Any amount will help. There is a donation jar on the front counter at Concord Pet in Suburban Plaza (312 Suburban Drive, Newark DE 19711). We also have a pay pal button on our website as well if you'd like to donate or we can send you an address to send the donation too.
King is the greatest cat to ever live and there will never ever be another cat like him in the world. I miss King so much and am so lost with out him. I just want to hold him again. I will never forgot you King, I love you SOOOO Much.
Rescued on 10/14/2006- 04/10/2010
Love you forever and always.

King is a 6 year old Bombay mix kitty. He came to us 3 years ago with 2 other black cats (whom I kept), 2 tabbies and a dog who were our VERY first rescue in October 2006. I couldn't let go of King and his 2 sisters (not sure if they are truly related) so I kept them.
-
King started to not act like himself about 3 days ago. He just laid in bed all day , didn't move it looked like it hurt for him to move and he wasn't eating or drinking either. So, he was taken to the vet and blood work was done as well as we a few other urine and stool tests. The blood work came back fine as well as the urine sample. We thought he may have diabetes as his glucose level was a little high but that can happen when a cat gets sick. He just started with extremely bad and liquid stool and still will not eat or drink. He was given sub q fluids and started on some medicine. The vet believes a digestive issue may be going on but further will need to be done and even a ultra sound may need to be done.
Prayers are greatly appreciated. Just last month Macie (his sister) overcame her serious illness and needless to say money is very tight. Macie's total vet costs were $1,200. She had similar syptoms to King but hers were much more serious, she was diagnosed with IBD, triad and a few other things. She has made a full recover thank god, but we just barely got our heads above water.
Prayers are appreciated. Thank you.
Rickie
Rickie came to us with her litter of 2 week old kittens about 4 weeks ago from. Rickie was a beautiful Maine coon baby girl about 1 year old as you can see. Rickie had been living outside even during her pregnancy, she was a very sweet and wonderful little girl about 8lbs when she came to us. She took very good care of her 5 babies but she didn't have that much milk so they needed to be supplement fed. About 1 week ago she started to vomit up everthing she ate, she couldn't hold anything down. She was taken to the vet received a full blood work up, fluids and recieved an X-ray- which nothing was abnormal on the X-ray. The results came back the next day and everything was fine- she did have a high white blood cell count, and she was barely 5lbs, She left us on June 11, 2009. She held on as long as she could of her kittens, luckily her kittens ahd long been weaned. The vet believes this was an underlying issue that was sped up by the fact she had a litter of kittens, it put a lot of stress on her body. Her kittens are all doing great and are happy and healthy. I got very attached to Rickie in the few weeks she waqs here, she was beauitul not just because of her breed and coloring but because she had a great, sweet and gentle personality. She purred non stop and even purred and she was went into kitty heaven. She was loved very mucn and I still think about her every day, I miss her so much and wish there someway to have mase her better. She is up in Kitty Heaven playing wtih Toby, Rusty and all of the other rescued kitties that have passed away.
Watch over us and keep your babies safe!
Love you Rickie,
Jamie
Rusty
Rusty entered heaven today. January 28, 2009Rusty entered heaven today. January 28, 2009
Rusty was a 3 year old FELV postive kitty. He was in our care for 9 months. Before that he was living outside fighting for his life. Rusty was our very 1st postive kitty cat. Rusty was a fighter. He came to us with 4 other cats- each of them not postive. They were all sick with colds, Rusty never caught their colds. He was in rough shape when we first rescued him- scars and dirty fur. He became very healthy and outgoing after a few weeks of good eating!
After 6 months in our care he devloped a lump on his back leg, we were prepared for the worst. He went through $500 dollars worth of surger and it turns out the lump was just a fiber depoist!
We would of love to see him live in a home of his own, instead of living in a bedroom- but he was very much loved here and a part of our family.
The past week Rusty really went down hill. He stopped eating and became listless and lost weight. We tried to do everything we could to save him, but in the end he was just suffering every day. I love Rusty so much it was a very hard decision to make, but I didn't want to see him suffer anymore.
He is now in heaven watching over us and playing with Knee High (one of his rescued buddies that also passed away).
We will love him and miss him very much, especially Topaz who now doesn't have a room mate.
We also want to say a big THANK YOU to Cherry Hill Dog and Cat Hospital (in Elkton) for their compassion and kindness in this tough situation. They have helped us out a lot (also performed Rusty's lump removal surgery) through out this last couple months. They have alwasy been so kind and very good to us.
We love you forever and always Rusty!
